Frequently asked questions:

How do I get started?
The first thing we will do is get together for your initial consultation. This is where we can discuss and clarify the goals you are looking to achieve. In this way I also become familiar with your history in regard to exercise and health. It also gives you a chance to ask me any questions you may have and learn a little more about me.

After our initial consultation, you will go through a fitness assessment which involves light exercises to test your aerobic, strength and flexibility levels. These results will help me determine your starting level of fitness and aid in my design of your customized program. There is no pass or fail with these tests, (they are actually fun!) and their purpose is for information gathering.

Is a doctor's notice required?
If you have a pre-existing medical condition or are currently being treated by a doctor, yes, you will need to have a doctor's notice saying you are cleared for exercise and what specific exercises you can or can not do. This is for your own health and safety, which is my top priority at all times.

How many times a week will we work out together?
Ideally, I like to meet with a client 2-3 times a week. When starting a new exercise routine, it takes time and consistency to become accustomed to the new routine and see the results. To meet 2-3 times a week also helps me determine if the program is right for you or needs to be tweaked. If 2-3 times a week is too much then once a week is fine, the results will just come slower. Clients are strongly encouraged to do workouts on their own and I will review the results of your independent sessions also.

How long are the sessions?
The sessions usually last from 50 minutes to an hour.

Where are the sessions held?
As an In-Home personal trainer, I come to you. The sessions can be held in your home, your office or your gym. As weather permits, we may head outdoors for a session: wherever you are comfortable and whatever is convenient for you.

What type of equipment will I need?
I will bring whatever equipment is needed. We generally will work with dumbells, stability balls, medicine balls, bands, mats, etc. If you have equipment you want to use, we certainly can use it as long as it is safe.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel less than 24 hours prior to your scheduled session, you will be responsible to pay for that particular session.

Will I be evaluated throughout the program?
Yes, after several weeks of working together I will assess your progress and make changes to your program as necessary. The program can be adjusted at any time, depending on how you and your body are responding. My programs are not designed to be bootcamps, and one of my main goals is for you to have a positive and uplifting experience, one that you will want to continue in life. Your goals and needs will assuredly evolve over time, and my approach allows for those changes to be incorporated into your individual program.
